


William Shia, based in Hong Kong, joined Clearwater in 2005 and is responsible for credit analysis and asset management. Mr. Shia’s focus is mainly on the Pan-Asia, South East Asia and China markets and he has made numerous investments throughout the region. Notable transactions include the investment in and exit from AIT, an Indonesian semiconductor company, yielding a 2X return on invested capital. Mr. Shia has also overseen Clearwater's largest investment, Pacnet, which includes a successful restructuring of C2C and the purchases of Asia Netcom and Pacific Internet. Currently, Mr. Shia is managing the restructuring of TT&T, a fixed line operator in Thailand, and ASAT, a Chinese semiconductor company. Prior to joining Clearwater, Mr. Shia worked at Alvarez and Marsal Asia, a U.S.-based turnaround consulting firm in Hong Kong. Prior to that, Mr. Shia worked at Lehman Brothers' Investment Banking team in Hong Kong focusing on the Communications and Media sector. Mr. Shia holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
